Placing and Aligning Wall Art
Nothing is more noticeable than a poorly aligned picture or an off kilter poster. When it comes to hanging wood wall art, don’t bother with the hassle of a carpenter’s level. Using laser levels saves time and ensures that you have perfectly aligned wall art. It’s also possible to use a laser level for a number of household needs, such as setting up shelves, aligning bookcases, and even placing lighting fixtures.
While some do-it-yourselfers may see a laser level as a bastardization of traditional carpentry, the improved accuracy and precision that the tool provides can’t be questioned. With hundreds of applications and a clear advantage over the carpenter’s level, for all your household needs there’s no reason not to own a laser level.
A Mosaic Made of Wood

Mosaics have always been one of my favorite forms of visual artistry. Traditional paintings and sculptures are impressive in their own right, of course, but mosaics take a special level of vision and commitment. The complexity of a mosaic definitely varies, but the most complicated ones utilize thousands of pieces of tile, stone or glass to create a sophisticated image. The final effect is a lot like that of a pointillist painting.
Only recently did I discover that there’s a rough woodworking equivalent to the mosaic called intarsia. This style of craftsmanship employs many disparate pieces of wood and fits them together to create a uniform whole. When done correctly, these pieces of art achieve a three-dimensional effect that’s not seen in other forms of woodwork.
Decorating Your Home
My twin brother and I recently moved out of our parents’ house and decided to get our own condo in the city. The only issue was that we know absolutely nothing about decorating anything. My mom gave us some books on basic décor and we started reading up on how to create a natural, rustic aesthetic in our centralized city condo.
One of the suggestions was having handcrafted wood wall art prominently displayed in the living area. Luckily I found some great art online and now my brother and I have a somewhat of a great looking place; if only we can do something about our laundry.
Wood Plaques
Wood Plaques can be many things, and a commemorative of a loved pet is always great. I made a Wood Plaque of my favorite dog, Mugs. He was a British Bulldog, and every time I look at it, it brings back cherished memories of my beloved pet. Mugs was a beautiful white with just a hint or two of black-and the Holy wood truly captured his look perfectly.
The vast variety of types of wood that are available give way to a never ending pool of Wall Plaque materials. Even if you now quite a bit about Wood varieties, the simple fact that each tree grows just that little bit differently, makes a vast amount of wood variations of color and grain. Looking for a great Wall Plaque? Think Wood!! There is a endless supply of varieties and styles to wet every appetite!
Commemorating a Special Event

While some people think trophies, medallions, and awards are the best way to commemorate a special event, I’m of the opinion that wood plaques are much more special. Wood plaques have been used to show thanks, respect, or celebrate a person’s achievements for centuries. Most wood plaques feature embedded metal which is engraved upon with a name or message. Wood plaques are for more than applauding coaches after a successful sports season, they’re also great for graduations, retirement, and even anniversaries.
There are dozens of places you can purchase wood plaques in both brick and mortar stores and online. It can be difficult to locate a trophy shop, so purchasing a wood plaque online and having it engraved somewhere local is a great idea. In purchasing online you’re also not limited to just the selection of a trophy shop.
